We will return to husky safaris in winter 2026 - 2027 – a warm welcome to join us for this new chapter

Rami’s Huskies is a truly local family business, with a story that began back in 1996 when Rami got his first sled dogs. During the early years, he worked with his dogs as a freelancer until the company was officially established in 2001. Rami has lived his entire life in the village of Kallo, about 25 km from Ylläsjärvi, 40 km from Äkäslompolo, and 60 km from Levi. In 2021, Rami’s Huskies was awarded both Company of the Year and Entrepreneur of the Year among more than 800 businesses in Kittilä.

Previously, the company’s husky services were located elsewhere, but now, for the first time, the operation has been built at our own home base – the very place where the dogs live and everyday life happens. Our address is Ruonanmaantie 25, 99120 Kallo – This new environment offers a peaceful and authentic starting point for husky safaris, and both the yard area and kennel have been comprehensively developed to meet the expectations of today’s customers.

Arctic sled dogs – perfectly suited to Lapland’s conditions

For us, it is important to work with Arctic sled dogs that are exceptionally well suited to the demanding winter conditions of Lapland. Their thick undercoat and strong motivation to work make them reliable partners for dog sledding adventures.

The dogs are friendly and affectionate, and after the safari, guests have the chance to spend time getting to know them better – for many, this is one of the highlights of the experience.

A new concept: calmer and more private husky safaris

The break in operations brought many positive things. It gave us time to pause, reflect, and make room for new ideas. Now, in winter 2026 – 2027, we will relaunch with a renewed concept that also returns to our roots – guided by the idea that “small is beautiful.” The renewed concept emphasizes:

  • small group sizes and privacy

  • offering an authentic experience in Lapland’s nature

  • close interaction with both the dogs and the guide

Group sizes are limited to 4–6 people so that every guest can enjoy a peaceful and personal experience.

  • Groups of 5–6 people are asked to book by email to ensure availability.
  • Groups of fewer than 4 people may book a private safari by paying the price for four participants.

10 km and 14–15 km husky safaris in the stunning scenery near Ylläs

On the safari, we’ll ride dog sleds through Lapland’s beautiful, varied terrain. The route is suitable for both first-timers and more experienced travelers. After a brief instruction session, we’ll set off led by Rami. Two people travel in each sled, and halfway through, there is an opportunity to switch driving shifts. If there is an odd number of participants in the group, one person gets to drive their own team.

After the excursion, the dogs are rewarded with pets and praise, after which we head to the hut to warm up. We share stories over a hot drink and fresh buns—a moment when the hustle and bustle fades away and the silence of Lapland feels particularly profound. The total duration of the programs is approximately 2 hours and 2.5 hours.

Prices will be published later.
