We are returning to safari operations in winter 2026 - 2027 – a warm welcome to a new chapter.
Rami’s Huskies is a genuinely local family business, whose story began back in 1996 when Rami acquired his first sled dogs. For the first few years, he ran with his dogs as a freelancer until his own company was founded in 2001. Rami has lived his entire life in the village of Kallo, about 25 km from Ylläsjärvi, 40 km from Äkäslompolo, and 60 km from Levi. In 2021, Rami’s Huskies was recognised as the Business of the Year and Entrepreneur of the Year out of over 800 businesses in Kittilä.
Previously, the company's husky services were located elsewhere, but now the operation is built for the first time at our own location – a place where dogs live and everyday life unfolds. Our address is Ruonanmaantie 25, 99120 Kallo. This new environment offers a peaceful and authentic starting point for husky safaris, and the grounds and kennel have been holistically developed to meet the expectations of modern customers.
Arctic sled dogs – perfectly suited to Lappish conditions
It is important to us to use Arctic sled dogs, which are excellently suited for for the demanding winter conditions of Finnish Lapland. Thick undercoat and strong working motivation make them reliable partners for dog sledding trips.
Dogs are friendly and affectionate towards people, and customers can get acquainted with them after the safari – for many, this is the highlight of the trip.
New concept: quieter and more private husky safaris
The break from operations brought much good. We had time to pause, clear our thoughts, and make space for new ideas. Now we are returning to safari operations in winter 2026–2027 with a renewed, but back-to-basics concept – with the idea of “small is beautiful”. The renewed concept emphasises:
- small groups and privacy
- to offer a memorable experience in the Lapland nature
- a close encounter with dogs and a guide
Group sizes are limited to 4–6 people to ensure each client receives a tranquil and personalised experience.

10km and 14–15km husky safaris in the vicinity of Ylläs amidst stunning scenery
We will go on a husky safari through the beautiful, varied terrain of Lapland. The route is suitable for both first-timers and more experienced travellers. After the driving instructions, we will set off led by Rami. Two people will travel in each sled, and there is an opportunity to swap driving shifts halfway. If there is an odd number of participants in the group, one person will get to drive their own team.
After the excursion, the dogs are rewarded with pats and praise, after which we move to the kota to warm up. We chat over a hot drink and fresh bun – a moment where the rush is forgotten and the silence of Lapland feels particularly strong. The total duration of the programmes is approximately 2 hours and 2.5 hours.
